Plain answers to the questions people ask most.

Getting started

Do I need an ABN?

To send invoices, yes. Every Australian invoice needs one, or your client may hold back tax from what they pay you. You can set up and log your work first. If you don't have an ABN yet, WeekBill shows you how to get one for free from the Australian Business Register. It asks for your ABN before your first invoice goes out.

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone, on iOS 17 or later, and Android phones, on Android 8 or later.

Why do I sign in with Apple or Google?

So there's no password to remember. You can start without signing in: WeekBill keeps your work on the phone from the first minute. Just before your first invoice goes out, it asks you to sign in once. That backs up your clients and invoices, and emails go out in your name. On a new phone, tap "I already have an account" and sign in the same way to get everything back.

Billing

How does Friday billing work?

Tap Bill all on Home. WeekBill makes one invoice per client for each week of work you haven't billed yet, Monday to Sunday. Swipe through them, or open one to change hours or the due date. "Hold" keeps a client's work for next time.

When they look right, slide to send. Clients you email get the invoice from WeekBill, as a PDF with a link to a page where they can pay you. For clients you text, WeekBill writes the message, and you send it from your own phone. No signal? Slide anyway. Emails go out once you're back online, and WeekBill tells you when each text is ready for you to send.

On Friday afternoons, WeekBill tells you what's ready to bill. You can turn that off in You, then Notifications.

Can I change hours after I've sent an invoice?

Yes, until it's paid. Open the week, tap the job and change the hours. WeekBill then asks whether to send your client the corrected invoice, and nothing goes to them until you say so. The corrected invoice keeps its number and is marked Updated.

Removing the only job on an invoice offers to cancel the invoice instead, and your client gets a cancellation notice. A paid invoice can't be changed.

My client says they didn't get the invoice.

Check where it went: open the client from Clients and look at their email address. Then ask them to look in their spam folder for an email from your name "via WeekBill".

If you send that client invoices by text, the invoice goes out from your own phone, so check your messages app. The invoice's details also show whether your client has opened it.

If an invoice couldn't be sent, WeekBill tells you and marks it "Didn't send". Fix the client's details, and email support@weekbill.com if it still hasn't gone.

Getting paid

How do clients pay me?

Straight to you, by PayID or bank transfer. Your payment details are on every invoice, with the invoice number as the payment reference, and the page your client opens from the link has Copy buttons for each. Choose which details show in You, then Getting paid. WeekBill never touches your money and charges no fees.

How do I mark an invoice as paid?

WeekBill can't see your bank, so you tell it. Open the invoice from Home or from the client's page, and tap Mark as paid. When an invoice is late, WeekBill brings it up in a conversation, and you can answer They paid there. Your client's invoice page then says it's paid. WeekBill doesn't send your client anything.

Your account

How do I change my ABN or bank details?

For your PayID and bank details, open You (at the top of Home), then Getting paid. Invoices you send after that carry the new details, and so do the pages your clients open from their links. PDFs already sent keep the details they had.

You, then Business details shows what ABN Lookup holds for your ABN. "Check ABN Lookup again" picks up a change there, such as registering for GST. The app can't change the ABN itself yet. If yours has changed, email support@weekbill.com.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open You, then Account, then Delete my account. You can email yourself all your invoices first, then hold the button to delete. No longer have the app? Ask from the web.

Still stuck? Email support@weekbill.com.
